Rhyolite, besides being an igneous, volcanic rock, is the name of a ghost town out in the Nevada desert, at the edge of Death Valley. It began in 1905. The casino that was built there is slowly crumbling, as are most of the buildings left in the disintegrating town.
Now there are only tourists who visit, but only briefly. They take pictures with their phones of the formerly intact structures, then leave the emptiness to the ghosts.
