The mighty saguaro cactus can take a lot. However, there are diseases that can weaken the cactus and make it collapse. When it does, you’d better not be under it, or it will be the last thing you ever do. They can literally weigh tons. We had one in our backyard until it became diseased. We feared it would fall on our dog, or one of us! So, we had it taken down for safety reasons.

This one collapsed in the desert, and it is interesting to see what the skeleton looks like. In the background, a couple of healthy saguaros look on.
